A prototype without compromises where every technical and aesthetic solution is voted exclusively and totally to the increment of the performances. Developed on the base of GP 800, this free prototype from every tie: materials of obvious derivation racing from the extreme lightness, forms studied in wind tunnel for the aerodynamics, air inlet for the increment of the engine ratings. Every detail is studied in the minimums details and also the ciclistica is evolven in order to directly adopt mutuate solutions from the world of the superbike.

The graphical minievils, but smaccatamente Italian and accompanied from the logo that it celebrates the 100 years of Gilera, characterize aesthetic of 850 GP Corsa.

An Italian, sport and quickly recognizable style, than only Gilera can wear. 850 GP Corsa, in its aggressive single-seat configuration, the imaginary one of the fans, travel over again the tracks that have rendered the Gilera brand glorious, from the dominion of class 500 in years '50, to the victories offroad on sands Africans, till the most recent world-wide triumph of Simoncelli Mark, Champion of World 250 in season 2008.

DUCATI DESMOSEDICI RR: THE ULTIMATE DUCATI EXPERIENCE

The dream of a true GP replica has finally come true and the Desmosedici RR will be the first-ever road-going motorcycle to offer such a stunning wealth of performance and technology that comes directly from Ducati's experience in MotoGP. The RR derives from the Ducati Corse Grand Prix racing Desmosedici GP6, the same bike with which Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau are competing with in the 2006 MotoGP World Championship.
The body design and the aerodynamics faithfully reflect the Desmosedici GP6. The colour scheme, the fittings, the materials used in its construction as well as the technical features of the powerful four-cylinder desmodromic engine built by the Borgo Panigale factory engineers, leave no doubts whatsoever: the Desmosedici RR is the ultimate expression of the most extreme MotoGP racing machine today.
This is the new frontier of Ducati technological evolution, a dream come true, demonstrating once again the courage and the passion of Ducati, as well as the ability to transfer the experience of the racing world to a machine that is destined for road use.

The Engine
The Ducati Desmosedici RR features advanced technology and aerodynamics that are derived from the GP6 currently being raced in the 2006 MotoGP World Championship.
The engine of the Desmosedici RR accurately reflects that of the MotoGP bike: Ducati's traditional desmodromic distribution, guaranteeing precise valve control up to the highest revs, is perfectly matched to the 989 cc four-cylinder 'L' layout, with four titanium valves per cylinder, in asymmetrical Twin Pulse configuration, producing a masterwork of precision engineering.
The double overhead cams are gear driven, a sophisticated and reliable solution that enables precise valve timing in all conditions. This authentic copy of the Grand Prix engine is completed by a six-speed transmission, which retains its 'racing' characteristic by being cassette type, and a hydraulically actuated dry multi-plate slipper clutch.
The aim of producing a light but robust engine has led not only to an unrivalled quality component design but also the use of exclusive racing-derived materials: sand-cast, aluminium crankcase and cylinder heads, titanium connecting rods and valves, sand-cast magnesium engine covers.

Four 50 mm Magneti Marelli throttle bodies are present, with 12-hole 'microjet' injectors. For sophisticated management of the powerful four-cylinder engine a Magneti Marelli 5SM ECU and high-speed CAN line electronics have been used.
An all-time 'first' comes with the use of a '4 into 2 into 1' exhaust, with "vertical exit" silencer, hidden in the tail cover.
These are all benchmark performance features for a MotoGP replica bike, which is capable of delivering more than 200 hp of power with the 102 dB racing silencer and dedicated CPU race kit.
Amazingly the Desmosedici RR with its catalytic oxygen sensor exhaust, homologated for road use, fully complies with Euro3 emissions regulations.

The Chassis
The engine clearly represents the beating heart of this fantastic motorcycle, but the technological advancements also extend to the chassis: a signature tubular trellis hybrid frame, refined components, and a superb carbon fibre body. This is a motorcycle that is destined for an expert rider, someone who is always looking for extreme sporting performance, as well as being an exclusive, esoteric, reliable product that is more than capable of track racing.

The bike's development could not have been made possible without the significant collaboration of Vittoriano Guareschi, the official Ducati Corse tester, whose riding abilities and hundreds of hours of track time have made a fundamental contribution to the evolution of the project.
For the first time the Ducati Desmosedici RR uses a new welded tubular steel trellis hybrid frame (ALS 450) with the frame geometry that is the same as that of the Desmosedici GP6.
This construction guarantees an excellent stiffness to weight ratio, allowing superior manoevrability and riding precision. Attached to the red frame is the rear seat support in high temperature resin type carbon fibre. This material, normally used only on racing bikes, has the characteristic of being extremely lightweight but exceptionally rigid.
The Desmosedici RR sports a new extra-long, cast, forged and pressed aluminium alloy swingarm. The geometry and the technology of this component derive directly from the MotoGP bike, and give the RR a high level of traction control, and excellent weight distribution as well as a superb stiffness to weight ratio.

In the suspension department the Ducati Desmosedici RR features the most advanced technical components.
The rear suspension geometry and layout is the same as that of the GP6, with the rear shock attached above the swingarm and to a rocker, which is hinged to the crankcase.
The front suspension features 43 mm upside-down Öhlins FG353 pressurized forks (PFF), with TiN coated sliders. The forks, which come directly from competition use, as well as being pressurized thus ensuring excellent track performance, are fully adjustable in preload, rebound and compression.

The rear shock is also Öhlins and has rebound, low/high speed compression adjustment and hydraulic preload adjustment.
For the first time ever, this Ducati production motorcycle features Marchesini forged and machined magnesium alloy wheels, with 7 spoke design as on the GP6. This helps to reduce unsprung weight and inertia, all the while improving handling and suspension response.
With the aim of producing the ultimate track performance, Ducati in collaboration with Bridgestone is developing special tyres for the Desmosedici RR. The tread pattern, construction and profile are being specially developed and produced by the Japanese tyre manufacturer.

The numerous racing components of this high-performance machine also include its Brembo brakes. Up front the Desmosedici RR features a new pair of radial 'monoblock' callipers with four 34 mm pistons: monoblock technology, until now only used for racing callipers, allows calliper stiffness to be increased, thus improving braking response; the front brake system is completed by a radial master cylinder, with hinged lever and remote 'quick' adjuster. The pair of front brake discs are the same as those used on the GP6 in its wet weather race set-up: two semi-floating 320 mm x 6 mm discs, with machined flange. The Brembo rear brakes are made up of a 240 mm fixed disc and a calliper with two 34 mm pistons.

The Ducati Hypermotard - a radical concept bike - takes power, aggressiveness, versatility, and sport performance to a new extreme.

Taking advantage of the compactness and agility of a traditional supermotard, Ducati has upped the ante with potent street power thanks to a new air-cooled twin engine. The front of the bike is as slim and compact as a single cylinder, in part thanks to the engine layout, but also due to the absence of weighty cooling radiators.
The Ducati Hypermotard takes-on urban canyons and attacks mountain curves with total abandon. High performance starts with attitude. Pared down to its essentials, the Ducati Hypermotard is an extreme performance, over-the-top motorcycle. Its purpose is single minded - to thrill.
Incredibly slim, compact and exceptionally light, with riding position to dominate, it's ready to rock every road with big-bore acceleration.
Supermotard styling makes the blood boil. This bike offers what no Supermotard can: speeds exceeding 220KPH on the race track, fuel injection and 100 horsepower on only 175 kg of dry weight.

On the Road
Bring on the curves, the bumps, the unexpected.
A rigidly triangulated tubing Trellis frame and track tested chassis geometry is matched with state-of-the-art suspension. Start off with the road-holding of huge 50mm Marzocchi R.A.C. forks, gripped by a triple screw lower fork crown, then add an Ohlins remote reservoir shock that mounts to a stout single-sided swingarm. Ultra light forged and machined Marchesini racing wheels are paired with a single radial mounted Brembo four piston, four pad calliper gripping a 320mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear.

Making power

The 1000 Dual Spark engine pumps out torque and horsepower that is smooth and linear, because the roads that the Ducati Hypermotard seeks are neither smooth nor linear. A Slipper type racing clutch makes aggressive downshifting and heavy braking more exciting and by damping the abrupt engagement of lower gears while entering a turn. Magnesium engine covers subtract more weight for a feathery feel and athletic manoeuvres.
The Pilot controls :

The wide tapered section handlebars transfer control of the tarmac to the rider. A wide full length seat design lets the pilot move fore and aft, up-front entering the turns, back for maximum traction on exit.

The superbike category of Buell 1125R is powered by the 1125 cc liquid-cooled 72-degree V-Twin Helicon engine generating 146 crank hp and 82 ft. lbs. of peak torque. With a foundation built on the core Buell Trilogy of Technology creating optimum performance, the 1125R remains true to Buell’s original sense of sportbike style and design.
The new gear position readout is added to the digital display on the instrument panel as a scroll-to feature. A high-output alternator has increased capacity for accessory use. Slider bobbins have been added to the swingarm for protection and easy use of a rear stand.
The front wheel rides on fully adjustable Showa 47 mm upside-down forks, while the Buell ZTL2 front brake has an eight-piston caliper. A smooth-shifting six-speed transmission works with a HVA (Hydraulic Vacuum Assist) slipper-action clutch that uses engine vacuum for easy clutch-lever action and reduced engine braking during downshifts.
The Quiet Zone aerodynamics optimize air flow around the rider for enhanced race performance and rider comfort. The fairing shape was developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, and features six-bulb headlamps, while LED turn signals are integrated into the mirror housings.

The German motorcycle magazine Motorrad Aktuell has published on its front page a decent photo of the soon-to-be-announced BMW R1200GS. This photo seems to be much more in line with what we'll actually see, since it's not a spy photo.

It would seem that BMW is getting ready to show the world the new bike.

British magazine MCN published spy photos of the new BMW R1200GS, the replacement of the successful R1150GS. The first change is obvious with its name... the 1150 engine is replaced by a 1200 cc engine!

Further, MCN confirm that the weight drops 30 kilos. Not much other details are available, but the bike is looking very promising. With a bigger engine, and less weight, it should be able to reach better performances.

The BMW Lo Rider – sporty, purist roadster study with an individually variable design.

The Purist, powerful, unfaired and reduced to the absolute essentials – these few words provide an incomplete description of the BMW Lo Rider, the new concept study by BMW Motorrad. At fi rst sight, the focus would seem to be on the creation of a roadster with a muscular appearance, openly displayed technology and powerful fl at twin engine for pure emotion and maximum motorcycling fun. But behind all this is in fact a completely new custom concept.

The bike’s low weight, the powerful and high-torque fl at twin engine and high-quality chassis technology give it a high level of sporty riding dynamics, while the lowered chassis and the relaxed yet active seating position with the broad handlebars are more of a loan from cruisers and naked bikes.

The BMW Motorrad has a tradition of coming up with new ways and ideas when it comes to motorcycling. Fascinating studies and designs have been produced in the past using ideas which then found their way into serial production.
But studies by BMW Motorrad are about more than just trying to develop a motorcycle which has not existed in a given form before. In addition to functions and quality, BMW developers focus on the emotional component – the connection between man and motorcycle. The guiding principle is that a motorcycle should not just function perfectly but should also appeal to all the riders’ senses simultaneously, arouse an emotional response in him and fi ll him with enthusiasm at every moment – when stationary and when moving, as a whole and in its detail. In short: it has to light the fire.

The Emotion through interaction – individualisation made-to-measure.
With the BMW Lo Rider study presented at the EICMA in Milan, BMW Motorrad is not just demonstrating a continuation of this policy but is in fact taking a signifi cant step forward in focusing on the interaction between man and motorcycle. The idea is that for the fi rst time, the customer should be interactively involved in the design of his BMW – going far beyond the familiar adding of special equipment features and accessories. The customer is to be given the opportunity to be much more deeply involved in the design of the Lo Rider from the outset, creating a customised, made-to-measure machine based around the principal components such as engine and chassis.

The Classic meets modern – a combination of stylistic elements from different eras.
The study Lo Rider does not fi t into any of the classic motorcycle segments – and it is not supposed to. It combines the latest technical attributes of high performance sports motorcycles with the traditional, classic principles of motorcycle construction. State-of-the-art chassis components from sports motorcycle construction such as the powerful upside-down fork, 6-piston brake calipers with real bite and wide 17-inch tyres are combined with styledefi ning elements of motorcycle construction from the fifties and sixties.
The idea in detail.
The concepts, also based on styles of the fi fties and sixties, as well as differing paint fi nish versions, the BMW Lo Rider offers the motorcycle fan a wealth of possibilities by means of which to interpret the roadster theme in a highly individual way according to his own personal taste founded on a single basic motorcycle. In fact the Lo Rider gives the creativity of its rider almost completely free rein.

The Chassis and engine – state-of-the-art technology based on classic principles.
The mixture of classic and modern stylistic elements of motorcycle construction combined with state-of-the-art technology is what gives the Lo Rider its defining look from all angles. A torsionally stiff space frame of sophisticated architecture openly displays the bike’s technology and together with the upside-down telescopic fork at the front and Paralever rear-wheel swing arm provides the modern basis in terms of chassis technology - just as it is to be found in some current models of the BMW Boxer series. What is more, the chassis of the Lo Rider has been lowered as compared to conventional roadsters.

In terms of tyre dimensions, the 17-inch wheels represent the current state of the art for sports motorcycles, though with their chrome wire spokes, black hubs and steel rims they ingeniously echo the characteristic stylistic elements and fl air of a past era.
By contrast, contemporary technology and a high level of riding dynamics is provided by elements such as the high performance dual brake disk with powerful 6-piston calipers, together with wave brake discs borrowed from motor racing at the front and the single disc brake at the rear.
In terms of its engine, the Lo Rider also relies on technology which is both contemporary and full of character – the legendary, highly responsive BMW flat twin “Boxer” engine. For 85 years, the construction principle of this engine has stood for unmistakable, authentic design, a full torque curve and unique sound and power. In its current version with an output of over 100 bhp, overhead camshafts, electronic fuel injection and exhaust gas purifi cation, the powerful response of this dynamic and distinctive 2-cylinder is simply perfect for the BMW Lo Rider.

The customer as designer – individual designs and paint fi nishes.
The concept study Lo Rider is mainly focused on the two essential component groups of a motorcycle, the engine and the chassis. Any superfl uous decoration is omitted. Instead, variable components such as the exhaust system, seat, headlamp unit and paint fi nishes determine the bike’s outward appearance, at the same time defi ning its conceptual style.

The combination of these classic and modern components is entirely subject to the personal taste of the customer. For example, he can initially express the dominating character of the BMW Lo Rider through the placement of the exhaust system, creating either a sporty style or opting for a more roadsterlike look by having it lowered.

A very sporty effect is created by the classic perch seat made of aluminium sheet metal, while the simple single seat reduced to the absolute minimum will appeal to purist motorcycle fans. The single seat can also be optionally extended to include a pillion passenger module.
The specifi cation laid down for the development team led by David Robb, Head of Design Development at BMW Motorrad, was that all the conceivable combination options of these components should produce different end results but that the bike should always retain a rounded, coherent character in itself. Whether with a raised or lowered exhaust system, with sporty perch seat or seat bench for one or two people: the Lo Rider comes over differently every time but always makes an impression.

The same applies to the selection options in creating the front section of the Lo Rider. With their aggressive, modern design, the vertically arranged dualheadlamps give it a touch of the streetfi ghter, while the classic, semicircular headlamp provides an echo of past times.
Further possibilities for individual design are available to the customer in the choice of paint fi nish. There are four different colours available for the fuel tank, and with the three different paint fi nishes for the engine casing this allows the customer to create a very distinctive, personal look, defi ning the character of the Lo Rider as anything from refi ned to sporty.
These always harmonise perfectly with the deliberately classic, high-quality aluminium parts such as fuel tank trim, seat holder and wing struts. Different styles can also be created with the front and rear wings which are available either in black or chrome finish.

The new K 1300 GT is a High Performance Tourer featuring the innovative and proven highlights of the new K 1300 S in terms of performance, riding safety and technology. The drivetrain and suspension come largely from the K 1300 S, but have been adapted in their specific features and details to all the requirements of a dynamic tourer. The highlights in developing the new K 1300 GT were enhanced riding dynamics and even greater supremacy
combined with outstanding comfort and optimum qualities for all kinds of motorcycle tours.

Identical in its basic features with the power unit of the K 1300 S, the engine has been modifi ed in terms of air flow and guidance. This increases maximum output over the K 1200 GT by 6 kW (8 hp) to a new record level of 118 kW (160 hp), with even greater emphasis given to superior torque for even better traction and pulling force at low and medium engine speeds.

The K 1300 GT also sets the standard in terms of comfort, riding safety and equipment, not only through its excellent suspension and running gear, but also through optionally available, electronically adjustable ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment II) as well as features such as electronic cruise control, an electrically adjustable windshield, or seat heating controlled individually for the rider and passenger.

The new K 1300 GT offers perfect harmony of touring qualities and sporting riding dynamics. features also refl ected by the design of the K 1300 GT with its flowing lines and clear, striking shapes and surfaces. The lines tapering out towards the front symbolise even more power and dynamics than before, combined with sporting and slender all-round proportions.

The three main colours available for the body are Red Apple Metallic, Royal Blue Metallic, and Magnesium Beige Metallic, contrasting perfectly with the drivetrain fi nished in Black and the suspension components in Asphalt Metallic.

While Red Apple Metallic in conjunction with dark contrasting components on the spoiler and at the rear appeals particularly to the sporting and ambitious rider, the experienced touring rider will defi nitely enjoy Royal Blue Metallic with White Aluminium contrasting components as a puristic alternative.
