All-new parallel twin engine and has been design to give ‘the size and feel of a 400 with the power of a 650’. The engine has been made very small in order to allow the bike to have a short wheelbase to improve the handling while the exhaust under the engine lowers the centre of gravity. The shorter chassis of the Swingarm can be made longer which also helps to improve the handling.

Royal Enfield motorcycles have been in continuous production for over 100 years, making them the longest running motorcycle brand in the world, and their success story is set to continue with the introduction of a brand new engine for 2009.

Designed to comply with tough European emission regulations, the all-new engine will secure the future of this unique heritage brand and guaranteeing that Royal Enfield has a position in the worldwide motorcycle market.

UNIT CONSTRUCTION (UC) means that the engine and gearbox are combined in one casing, whereas previous engines had a separate gearbox, while Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) replaces the traditional carburettor. Power is increased to 27.5 BHP in standard form with 41.3 Nm of torque at 4000rpm.

However, this 500cc pushrod single cylinder, with a bore of 84mm and stroke of 90mm, gives an authentic-feeling ‘British Single’ experience.

All 2009-model Royal Enfields sold in Europe will be fitted with the new UC engine and first to appear in the UK will be the Electra EFI. This will be similar in appearance to the previous Electra model, but with UCE engine and a catalytic converter in the exhaust. Initial shipments are expected to arrive in the UK towards the end of 2008.

Manufacturing authentic classic motorcycles is at the heart of Royal Enfield’s business and the company will continue to produce machines that retain the distinctive Royal Enfield style with a new generation of Bullet motorcycles that will be in production during 2009.

The flagship model in the range is the 500 Bullet Classic, which will be launched to UK riders at NEC (28 Nov - 7 Dec 2008). This completely new model has all the styling cues you would expect from a genuine classic Royal Enfield: single cylinder air-cooled pushrod engine, 1950’s style nacelle and toolboxes, traditional paint scheme and highly polished engine components. It will appear in UK showrooms early in 2009.

With this next generation from Royal Enfield riders can experience pure motorcycling as it was intended, with the added reassurance of a reliable, economical, 500cc single.

The One of Kawasaki's most popular models gets more chrome, more comfort and more cubic centimeters for 2005.
The new Vulcan 1600 Nomad retains the elegant style of the Vulcan 1500 Nomad, but features more chrome, enhanced passenger comfort, and the big V-twin engine's displacement has been boosted to 1,552cc to give it an even keener power band.
The displacement has increased from 1,470 cm3 to 1,552 cm3. VN1500L exhaust characteristics are maintained; fuel injection settings are changed accordingly. The greater displacement substantially increases power feeling.

The Chassis Updates
Frame is essentially the same as that of the VN1600A with reinforced gusseting in the middle section.
Fork offset of 15 mm (5 mm less than that of VN1600A) results in ideal handling for this model.
Engine guard mounted to the downtube protects the engine in the event the bike falls over.
Pannier guards prevent damage to the panniers in the event the bike falls over.

The Styling/Ergonomic Updates
In addition to the windscreen and panniers from the VN1500L, the new Classic Tourer receives a number of new features designed to increase passenger comfort. These include the addition of a backrest, passenger grab rails and a change from pillion footpegs to footboards.
Backrest tailored to fit pillion's body provides high-comfort support for long-distance rides.
Elegantly crafted aluminium die-cast grab rails replacing the seat band of the VN1500L are shaped to fit the pillion's hands. In addition to providing additional passenger security, their chrome-coated finish contributes to the improved high-quality appearance.

Pillion footboards give passengers more choice of foot position, which translates to greater comfort.
Reshaped rear seat complements the backrest and grab bars and contributes to the increased passenger comfort.
New seat construction features leather seat covers bonded to urethane for high-quality surface.
Revised front emblem and an emblem added to the rear of the bike contribute to the enhanced quality.
