Piaggio Mp3 Touring 500 I.E. Business, 2012

  • Piaggio Mp3 Touring 500 I.E. Business, 2012
Mp3 Touring 500ie has been created to cater for the user looking for a vehicle offering superlative performance without sacrificing the elegance, comfort and unparalleled standards of active safety typical of the Mp3.

Powered by a high-performance 500ie engine with twin-spark ignition, the Mp3 500 delivers class-beating performance and is offered in two different spec levels: "Sport" and "Business".

Mp3 Touring 500ie "Sport" offers all the new technological and functional features of the Touring range, but enhanced with a number of race-inspired details, such as aluminium footpegs, silver saddle stitching and sleeker, more aerodynamic rear view mirrors which, together with the dedicated Matt Grey colour scheme and the aggressive black finish of the wheels, the grab handle, the exhaust heat shield and the headlight tub, emphasise the sporty character of this variant.

For those looking for performance but with more restrained, elegant looks, there is the Mp3 Touring 500 in the exclusive "Business" spec level, offered in the dedicated Perla White, Perseo Bronze and Orione Grey colour schemes - which come with a brown saddle and matching trim for the passenger grab handle, and with a chrome finish for the exhaust heat shield - or in sophisticated Cosmo Black with a black saddle. This variant also boasts all the new features of the Touring family.

Engines
The Mp3 Touring 500 boasts a 492 cc liquid cooled 4-stroke powerplant with twin-spark ignition, 4 valves and electronic fuel injection, producing 40 hp at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 44 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The introduction of a twin spark plug system optimises combustion in the cylinder, reducing both noise and exhaust emissions. The result is a flexible, high performance engine with plenty of low and mid range torque, giving the Mp3 Touring 500ie a top speed approaching 145 Km/h, with total respect for the environment ensured by the advanced "closed loop" injection system with an oxygen sensor and a three-way catalytic converter.

Technology
Riding the Piaggio MP3 is an experience that revolutionises the very concept of mobility, with the dual wheeled front suspension system ensuring levels of stability in curves far superior to any normal scooter. At speed, and even when riding behind other vehicles, the Piaggio MP3 Touring stays glued to the road and always delivers maximum performance in total safety. The benefits of the three wheel revolution can be felt particularly on wet roads and in other riding conditions that are critical for conventional two-wheelers.
On city and urban streets, Piaggio MP3 is unrivalled in terms of safety: cobblestones, poor surfaces, tramlines and manhole covers are dispatched with previously unattainable ease and stability.

Measuring no more than a maxi scooter and boasting incredible agility, the Piaggio MP3 Touring is completely at home in the city centre. It is also remarkably easy to park, as the electrohydraulic front suspension hold system keeps the vehicle upright without using the stand.

The revolutionary Piaggio MP3 boasts incredibly short braking distances unmatched by anything else in the scooter world: the powerful triple disc brake system and the incredible grip of the front end ensure stopping distances 20% shorter than the best performing scooter in critical grip conditions.

When the road leaves the town behind, the Piaggio MP3 really shows what it is made of. Road holding, cornering safety and lean angle unattainable for conventional scooters guarantee immense riding satisfaction on fast country roads.

LT: The MP3 for everyone
All engine variants of the Piaggio Mp3 Touring above 125 cc are also available as LT versions. These versions comply with requisites for a specific type approval class, making the Mp3 the world's only scooter which may be ridden by holders of a standard passenger car license.

The Mp3 Touring LT differs from other variants in a number of modifications necessary for specific type approval, such as a front track widened to 465 mm, motorcycle-type turn indicators, a daylight running light integrated in the lower part of the leg shield and integral braking, allowing both the front and rear brakes to be applied simultaneously on the Mp3 Touring LT from an additional brake pedal on the footrest.

Piaggio Mp3 Touring 300 I.E., 2012

Piaggio Mp3 Touring 300 I.E., 2012

Model Highlights
Design
The evolved styling of the new Mp3 Touring is immediately evident at first glance. While retaining a distinct resemblance with the rest of the Mp3 family, the new Touring boasts a new honeycomb front grille and a satin-finish centre moulding in the front shield.

The design of the windscreen is also completely new and offers even more protection than before. The new windscreen is adjustable, with three different settings: the gap between the top fairing and the windscreen splits the air flow into two parts, directed over and under the windscreen itself to eliminate turbulence at mid and high speeds.
The new design of the top fairing has also freed up space for a practical storage pocket with three compartments under the windscreen.

Other new features are the hand grips, with improved grip and ergonomics, the silver colour finish of the wheels, and the saddle, which is now upholstered with new materials and enhanced with relief stitching. The Touring retains the same class-beating features of the Mp3 in terms of comfort and functionality, such as the large, ergonomic rear grab handle with integrated backrest, and the luggage compartment, accessible from under the saddle and from the rear hatch, with a record-breaking 65 litres of load capacity and the ability to accommodate objects up to 1 metre in length!

The Engines
Piaggio Mp3 Touring is offered with a comprehensive range (125, 300, 400 and 500 cc) of 4-stroke, liquid cooled engines with electronic injection.
The 300 cc engine with electronic fuel injection delivers 22.5 hp at 7,500 rpm, and produces a maximum torque of 23.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm: these figures translate to superlative responsiveness and even sparkling performance, making the Touring 300 ie capable of long range commuting in complete comfort.

The 125 and 300 versions introduce a groundbreaking technological first for their classes: state of the art Ride by Wire technology, which electronically controls the throttle valve in the intake duct to regulate the fuel air mixture with absolute precision. The result of electronic throttle control is an optimised air/fuel mixture, which translates to smoother power delivery and, therefore enhanced riding comfort.

Piaggio Fly 50 4V, 2012

Piaggio Fly 50 4V, 2012

Style, comfort and safety on two wheels in the most classic Piaggio style.
Piaggio Fly is reborn, mobility for all. Anywhere in the world.

The new Piaggio Fly is the most modern heir to the great Piaggio tradition as the first European scooter manufacturer and leader in the search for easy and elegant solutions to provide mobility for all.

Piaggio Fly is the global scooter from Piaggio, designed and built for the entire world. Easy and safe, from the very first version Fly has embodied the spirit of Piaggio, one of the great global players in the scooter sector, whose mission is to meet the needs and desires of extremely wide ranges of users in every country in the world.
Now Piaggio Fly is renewed with an elegant style, completely revamped, and it offers new features of protection which are worthy of a much larger scooter.

The new Piaggio Fly now presents itself as the scooter which combines functionality and simplicity of use with the elegance of Italian design. The new Fly intends to bear the technical values and the design style which make Piaggio vehicles stand out in the world. It is the two wheeled vehicle of a thousand uses and a thousand spirits, always at ease in any situation which city life may bring, from commuting to school and work to spending free time with friends in the most glamorous parts of the city.

One of the most stimulating challenges for even a leader like Piaggio was to provide attractive lines and equip a project conceived and designed for daily mobility with exciting content. A strong aesthetic characterisation and absolute coherence with the brand's family feeling was the path that Piaggio designers chose to characterise the new Fly. The result was a vehicle which presents itself as the faithful "accomplice" with which the rider tackles city life, expressing a clear personality and a strong aesthetic affinity to the elegant lines of the Piaggio range.

Model Highlights

DESIGN
The new Fly is the expression of a new concept of functionality in which the balance of volumes generates usable space equal to a mini GT.
The elegant and Italian style can be seen in the painstakingly crafted and painted surfaces, the details and chromium plating and in the attention to every minimum detail.

Compact dimensions, ideal for beating city traffic, are accompanied by modern and personal lines which transmit solidity and the image of a small GT scooter, agile and comfortable.

The new Fly includes all of the elements of style from the most recent Piaggio productions, smoothness and dynamism blend perfectly in reassuring and never trite lines. Volumes and proportions were handled decisively by the designer's pen and the result is strong dynamism in the lines which do an excellent job of bringing out the brilliance of the latest addition to the Piaggio family.

The front end is prominent and penetrating, characterised by the "necktie" which, on the Fly, is an elegant black. The handlebar hosts a triangular shaped headlight surrounded by a chromium frame which connects it to the instrument panel, refined by a glossy black brow.

The low saddle is comfortable and provides easy seating to riders of any height, also hiding a spacious helmet compartment. The footrest has enough space to stretch out your legs, which works in favour the rider's convenience and comfort. The entire package is characterised by meticulous attention to detail, matching and finishing with chromium plated elements such as the glove box handle and the fuelling hatch. The wheel rims are made up of 5 rolling and doubled silver coloured spokes, just like the front fork and the transmission housing.

The slim back end is completed by a metallic silver coloured luggage rack and a unique tail light which includes turn indicators and rear light to make the vehicle sleek and to lighten its view from the rear.

RATIONALITY AND FUNCTIONALITY
The fuel tank was designed under the footrest, an extremely rational solution which means no sacrifice of capacity and an increased potential load for the storage compartment under the saddle which can hold 2 jet helmets with visors.

Access for refuelling is achieved through the hatch located on the lower part of the leg shield back plate which opens with a handle and hides the locking fuel cap. The black rear passenger footrests are the fold-out type and increase comfort and improve vehicle space.

The scooter has two stands: the centre stand to provide more stability for the stopped vehicle and the side stand, with a stop engine sensor for safe use.

The compact dimensions represent a valuable quality for a scooter destined primarily for city use: the new Fly provides improved vehicle space thanks to the riding triangle designed to accommodate access by various size riders; the double-seat saddle is just 760 mm off the ground, allowing any size rider to safely reach the ground.

Maximum use has been made of the spaces: besides the spacious storage compartment under the saddle, the glove compartment in the leg shield rear plate can hold small, every day objects (wallet and mobile phone) while the convenient bag hook comes out of the saddle. Finally, the large, flat footrest allows transportation of more bulky objects. The luggage carrier, which also acts as a handle for the passenger, also provides the possibility of mounting a spacious top box.

FRAME, CHASSIS AND SAFETY
The new Piaggio Fly frame is completely new, made from steel piping and moulded and welded reinforcing: a single open cradle structure, sturdy and resistant to breaks and bends, guaranteeing precision and safe riding.
The new Fly mounts a hydraulic telescopic fork with 32 mm stanchions, while a monoshock operates on the rear wheel, using the engine as swinging element in keeping with true scooter philosophy.

The 12" wheels and the wide, tubeless tyres (120/70 on the front and back) complete the high level chassis, ensuring excellent overall balance and agility fit for traffic.
The braking system is made up of a large diameter (220 mm) front disc brake, with a brake drum (140 mm diameter) mounted on the rear wheel.

ENGINES
The 50 cc 4 stroke, 4 valve engine that powers the new Fly has both clean consumption and brilliant performance at the same time. It is a modern engine developed to combine performance and respect for the environment, a top priority for a scooter destined for city commutes.

The 50 cc, thanks to the use of 4 valve timing, boasts the brilliance of the two stroke "little 50's" but the fuel economy and emissions remain those of a 4 stroke engine. The thermal part and the timing were optimised with the intention of reaching higher rpms safely and easily, thereby achieving greater power. Improved through-flow, also the result of the new multi-valve head, translates to optimised combustion, reduced fuel consumption and lower than ever emissions.

The new Fly, in addition to the 50 4 stroke, 4 valve, will be available in 125 and 150 cc injection versions; modern single cylinder 4 strokes which combine great performance sparkle with reduced fuel consumption and extremely contained emissions, thanks also to a transmission and shifting setting which increases mileage and reduces noise.

Piaggio Beverly Sport Touring 350, 2012

  • Piaggio Beverly Sport Touring 350, 2012

The range of the Piaggio high wheel best-seller is now enhanced with a new sport model: introducing Beverly Sport Touring.
The 350 engine is new - as compact as a 300 cc but with the performance of a 400 - 150/70 rear tyre and a new look, rich in brushed details, for an evolution of the species which extends the class and elegance of Beverly to the sport class.
The new Beverly Sport Touring is the first scooter to be equipped with ABS/ASR in order to take maximum advantage of performance without ever sacrificing complete safety.

The high wheel best seller from Piaggio, with more than 300,000 vehicles sold, has been the undisputed market leader from ten years, extends its inimitable features of urban commuter into a sports theme, mixing performance, comfort and riding pleasure into a unique model.

Introducing Beverly Sport Touring, a version which is attractive, gritty and at the same time elegant, where all of the experience and state of the art scooter technology of the Piaggio Group is concentrated in terms of safety, performance and reliability.
Beverly SportT ouring is the first model from Piaggio equipped with the brand new 350 engine, a product made to obtain the maximum power of a 400, but with a size, emissions levels and management costs comparable to those of a 300 cc.

The new Sport Touring has a combined braking system or, the first scooter in the world, a built in ABS system with ASR traction control for maximum safety even in emergency and poor grip conditions.
To handle its enhanced performance, the new Sport Touring mounts a larger 150/70 rear tyre in order to guarantee the maximum in terms of stability and road holding.

Model Highlights

A new engine: minimum space, maximum performance.
On the Beverly Sport Touring the brand new single cylinder 350, 4 stroke, 4 valve, electronic injection and water cooled engine makes its debut - state of the art Piaggio Group technology in scooter engines.

The engine designed to provide performance comparable to a 400 cc engine, but with compact dimensions and reduced weight in line with a 300 cc engine.
The new thermal group was specifically studied to optimize fluid dynamics, by adopting solutions which allow performance to be enhanced, increasing fuel economy at the same time. The new design also contributes to a significant reduction in emissions.

The stroke and bore values (69 mm x 78 mm) were selected to guarantee improved output at intermediate RPMs and with partial loads as well as greater operational flexibility.
The new 350 engine was conceived with a dry crankcase lubrication system with reed valve, which allows a reduction of both power losses due to flutter, and volume of the oil sump and the engine size.
Particular attention was given to reducing internal friction during design of the new engine: the timing rockers now have rollers, to the advantage of noise reduction and mechanical efficiency.

On the transmission front there are also new improvements, characterized by a new, multi-disc automatic clutch in oil bath, which ensures improved and more consistent output over time, even in conditions of high thermal stress. A special automatic lubrication system guarantees constant cooling of the system in any operating conditions.

These technical solutions, together with a new CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) developed ad hoc for this engine, provided savings in terms of weight of about 10 kg compared to a 400.
The performance, comparable to that of a 400, - with maximum power of 24.5 kW (33.3 HP) at 8,250 rpm and maximum torque of 32.2 Nm (3.3 kgm) at 6,250 rpm - place the new Beverly Sport Touring at the top of its category.

Minimum size and maximum performance, for greater savings: thanks to the new engine, the management costs of the Beverly Sport Touring are kept at the same level as a 300 scooter, while offering a reduction of maintenance expenses. In fact, service is scheduled at intervals of 20,000 km, with an oil change at an intermediate 10,000 km only.

Fuel economy information is also excellent: thanks to the new engine, Beverly Sport Touring gets an average distance* of more than 30km/l, for an overall range grater than 330km. WMTC 3.1 cycle

Chassis architecture: motorcycle efficiency with the comfort of a scooter.
The brilliant engine performance is enhanced by an original and extremely efficient chassis, a point of excellence for all of the Beverly models from the beginning. Once again, the new Beverly Sport Touring's technology provides agility, efficiency and riding pleasure at the highest levels.

The double-cradle frame in high-strength steel and pressed sheet metal sports a conventional fork with 35 mm stanchions up front, while rear suspension is handled by a pair of double-acting helical-spring shock absorbers with adjustable spring preload offering 4 different positions, ensuring optimal absorption of road bumps while delivering a neutral response and accurate handling.

While maintaining the great agility and handling of an urban commuter, the new Beverly Sport Touring ensures top-of-the-class road holding, thanks in part to the large wheels with double 5-spoke light alloy rims (16" x 3.00" up front and 14" x 3.50" at the rear) and large tyres (110/70 and 150/70 respectively).

Combined braking, ABS and ASR: powerful and safe in any situation.
In terms of active safety, the new Beverly Sport Touring does not shy away from confrontation, thanks to its powerful braking system, at the top of its category. The front brake sports a large 300 mm semi-floating disc, where a 3-piston floating calliper operates, while a 240 mm disc is mounted at the rear. The two discs operate in synergy, thanks to the combined braking system (for the version without ABS only): acting on the right lever the two side pistons up front are activated, while the left lever operates both the third piston up front and the rear brake. A distribution valve operates in series with the left lever, calibrating the front brake pressure based on the rear pressure in order to prevent lightening of the rear wheel and to keep the vehicle balance neutral.

The new Beverly Sport Touring is the first scooter on the market which can be equipped with the ABS/ASR package for optimum vehicle management even in the most delicate situations, such as in the event of a sudden loss of grip in emergency acceleration or braking.

Both the wheels are equipped with a tone wheel and a sensor for instantaneous detection of rotation speed. The sensors are connected to a two channel hydraulic control unit which, through servo valves regulates the pressure to the braking system, activating the ABS at the moment in which the wheel tends to lock up.

The final result is total and constant grip for the tyres, with a consequent decrease in the braking distance.
The ASR feature, combined with the ABS system, represents a further step forward in terms of active safety.
Thanks to the ASR, output power is automatically reduced when the sensors detect imminent skidding of the rear wheel. This measure contributes to preventing loss of control, on bumpy or low grip surfaces.

The ASR can be easily disabled using the dedicated control on the handlebar so that, in any case, the rider is always able to get clear even in particular conditions (i.e.: starts on uphill slopes, on dirt roads, etc.). Engagement and disabling are indicated by an indicator light on the instrument panel.

Style: gritty and elegant, in true Made in Italy spirit.
The decisive and elegant style of the new Beverly Sport Touring stems from a careful and harmonious evolution of the distinctive styling of the Beverly family, searching for a subtle balance between the refined simplicity, so typical of all the best Made in Italy products and the numerous new details with a sport flavour.

Even at first glance, the Beverly Sport Touring stands out with its smoked windshield which, besides emphasising its sport spirit, improves aerodynamic protection for the rider.

Instead of the chromium finishings, there are matte and brushed details - such as the front "moulding" - which, enhancing the complex surfaces, gives the new Sport Touring a more decisive, sport and elegant character, all at the same time.

The exhaust is also new, standing out because of the two ribs on the heat shield and the exclusive grey/flat black colouring, as well as the doubled 5-spoke wheel rims which were chosen in glossy black.

The touring spirit of this new Beverly comes out in the numerous details, designed to provide a riding experience characterised by maximum comfort, from the saddle which has two-level seating, separate for rider and passenger - a distinctive element of this model from the beginning - which is available on the Sport Touring in two colours, black and red (to match the interior finishing) and made precious by the exclusive relief stitching, ideally reminiscent of the most beautiful sports car interiors.

The new Sport Touring shares the spacious helmet compartment with the entire Beverly range: illuminated by a courtesy light, it is one of the largest in the category and can hold two full jet or one flip up helmet, in addition to documents, for which a dedicated space is provided.
Load capacity is complemented by the practical luggage rack, with integrated passenger grab handles, the match coloured glove box incorporated in the leg shield back plate and the retractable bag hook.

Colours
The unique look of the new Beverly Sport Touring is completed by an exclusive range of colour combinations and interior matches selected to enhance shapes and the sport character of the scooter: matched with the new Argento Cometa, a matte colour which enhances the shapes and surfaces even more, and the Nero Cosmo, the more "aggressive" livery, are the interiors, red embossing and saddle, which for the more classic Blu Midnight, Rosso Antares and Bianco Luna, are instead of black.
